Both teams booked their spot in the upcoming event with wins in their respective regions' ESL Challenger Leagues. HEET and MIBR earned their place at ESL Pro League Season 16 Conference after winning ESL Challenger League Season 40 in the Europe and North America regions, bringing them both one step closer into their aspirations of qualifying for next season's Pro League. The European region saw a grand finals series played out between HEET and 1WIN, the second meeting of the two teams in the event which went down to the very last map, where Alexandre "bodyy" Pianaro and his team bested the Russian-majority side to claim victory with a final score of 3-2 after taking the final map thanks to a magnificent comeback, taking five consecutive rounds in a 16-14 win. The French squad's journey throughout the event wasn't all easy going for them. They beat Wisla Krakow before dropping their next series against their future grand finals opponents 1WIN 0-2, sending the Frenchmen to the lower bracket. HEET then beat both Wisla Krakow and SAW 2-1 before having the last laugh on their Russian rivals and ultimately clinching the trophy. Over in the North American region, it was victory for MIBR after the the Brazilians swept the event's playoffs, taking 2-0 series wins over Orgless, Carpe Diem, and paiN before eventually meeting Colby "Walco" Walsh's squad once again in the grand finals of the tournament. MIBR entered with a 1-0 map advantage thanks to their success in the upper bracket, and they made good use of it, clinching a 3-1 win to grant themselves a place in the upcoming EPL Conference stage. Seven out of 16 slots for the event have now been filled with qualified teams, with the remainder set to come from a variety of ESL regional championships in Australia & New Zealand, UK & Ireland, Germany, Poland, Spain, France, Turkey, the Benelux region, and Switzerland.
